Professional Writing Program Promotional Booklet
I was part of a team that worked on a redesign of the Professional Writing Program's promotional booklet. As a part of the design team, I was responsible for envisioning a conceptual design and tentative page-by-page layout of the entire document. From there, I worked in Adobe InDesign to cooperatively complete the design of the pages upon each revised version. A smaller brochure was also included upon submission.
The Visiting International Professional Program's Year in Review, first edition
I created this document at my Communications internship with the Visiting International Professional Program (VIPP) at MSU. This project was particularly useful for me, as I was responsible for creating a template, designing the document in its entirety in InDesign, proofreading every page, and editing. This was the first edition of VIPP's Year in Review, and my first major project with the department.
Current State Promotional Poster
I worked with a partner to create promotional materials for WKAR Current State, which is a radio show that takes place every day of the week. My partner and I created three deliverables in the form of a poster advertisement, a smaller web advertisement, and clickable button to be placed on affiliated websites. We worked on this project along with two other projects in our project management class. I came up with the conceptual idea of the poster, and worked to make any necessary edits in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Computers and Composition Digital Press (CCDP) Stamp
I created this stamp for CCDP to be worn on badges at various conferences. I included the design from CCDP's promotional bookmarks featured on their website. My stamp was selected for CCDP's badges at the MLA Conference - so keep an eye out for it!
Other Goodies
"Michigan"
I illustrated the state of Michigan using song titles from Sufjan Stevens's "Michigan" album. Almost all of the song titles has a different Michigan city in the title, and I made sure to place those titles in their geographically-correct regions. This poster was created in Microsoft Word and involved significant usage of the space bar.
Saw Actually
As a part of a "Mate-A-Movie" exercise, I blended one of my favorite romantic comedy posters - Love Actually - with the psychological thriller Saw. This was one of my first excursions into the world of Adobe Photoshop and the first instance I realized that visuals are their own type of writing. In addition to more experience with photo editing software, I also found a new hobby. I don't think I would see this film - though I would imagine Jigsaw in love would be worth the eight dollars. Stay tuned for my next project: "Flock of Smeagols."
